Ok, I have never seen Hitler, Tojo, Mussolini, and Neville Chamberlain singing “Kumbayah” till now! Yes, this is certainly a David Zucker movie. Constant pratfalls, one-liners, and things that come at you like a wave of islamic terrorists - all named Mohammed. The maker of Airplane!, Airplane! 2, NakedĀ Gun, and Scary Movie has now made a pro-America movie that is quite funny.
The premise is that Michael Moore Malone, a lefty documentary maker that hates America, is now on a crusade to abolish Independence Day. “I love America - that is why I have to destroy it”. Moore Malone is visited by the ghost of JFK (his childhood hero). JFK informs him that he will be visited by three spirits.
Soon enough we meet the first spirit - General George S. Patton, played very well by Kelsey Grammer. (The other two spirits are George Washington (Jon Voight) and the Angel of Death, played by Trace Adkins). The three spirits take him on quite a journey through time and events, with lots of sight-gags and the usual Zucker fun.
There are quite a few surprise cameos in this movie. Bill O’Reilly, Paris Hilton, and others I won’t list, in case my one (or two) readers want to see it for themselves!
The theater was about one-third full, and the people I watched this with laughed hard at the hilarious parts (and there was a LOT of those). But some of the things referenced in this movie will go right over some heads. People that don’t follow the news closely, or even know or care who Michael Moore is will not get some of the gags. It helps to know that most of the anti-American crap you see lampooned in this movie has been spouted by Moore, Rosie, and other leftist trash over and over.
Speaking of Rosie, her part of this movie was to just be herself. She was showing this clip on evil Christian terrorists and how they blow up buses, hijack airliners, and ummm wait a minute here! (grin)
Islamic terrorists, Hollywood leftists, Jimmy Carter, peace protesters, and even a role for Leslie Nielsen - what more could you ask for in a Zucker film?
This movie should get lots of great reviews, notice I said should. Instead it will be savaged and scorned in all major media - mark my words there! Leftists will gnash their teeth and be outraged at this movie.
For myself, I would rate this movie 4 stars out of 5. Go see it when you get the chance.
